We
provide support, fun, education, and more fun for the
transgendered community around Pittsburgh -- including Western PA, Eastern OH,
and Northern WV. We aim to provide a safe haven for the beginning transgendered
person, enjoyable activities and fellowship for the more experienced
individual, and education and support for all. A majority of our members are
male-to-female crossdressers; however, the group is open to all members of the
transgendered community (whether female-to-male or male-to-female). Transpitt
is open to crossdressers, transvestites, and transsexuals. It is not a dating
service. New members are encouraged to attend a meeting, either en femme or en
drab to experience the camaraderie and support. Your safety and security are
very important to Transpitt. We encourage spouses and partners to attend the
meetings.
Over the past
few years, Transpitt has grown significantly. We work in conjunction with PTSG
(the Pittsburgh Transsexual Support Group) to provide the necessary assistance
to all Transgendered persons. Each month, Transpitt has a meeting at a safe
location (not a bar or restaurant) where there is either a speaker or an
activity. This location is not given out until a new member has an interview
with an officer. Some of the functions have included wig or makeup vendors,
game nights such as Casino Night, or a speaker from a local counseling service.
We try to maintain a mixture of fun activities and serious talks to provide for
the needs of the transgendered community.
And now, some photos! Since everyone always likes to get dressed
up, we have an annual Cotillion. Girls,
gowns, and heels, what could be better?
After heels, food is a high priority – so
here are a few pictures of picnics and pot-luck dinners.
